Job summary

The post will supportthe existing innovative clinical and academic programme in chronic kidney disease, community-based kidney care, renal transplantation, and dialysis across the North Central London sector.

The postholder will provide a 1:9 nephrology on-call commitment, specialist clinic at Hampstead site, and general nephrology clinic and inpatient reviews at Barnet hospital. In addition, the post includes virtual CKD triage, teaching and educational supervision and full participation in the educational and CPD activities of the department.

The Royal Free is an established centre of excellence for nephrology and transplantation services and the development of these specialties is consistent with the strategic plans of both the Trust and the UCL Medical School. An expansion in the kidney care programme features as an important element in the Royal Free's integrated business plan and long-term financial model and in its development as one of the leading national transplant sites.

Job summary

The St George's Kidney service is looking to appoint a full time (10 PAs) Consultant Renal Physician to join a friendly comprehensive team based at St George's Hospital, the major tertiary centre for South West London. The service currently consists of seven full-time Nephrologists, four Acute medical consultants with an interest in Nephrology, and eight Consultant Transplant and Access surgeons, who work together to provide comprehensive kidney services for South West London.

The appointee will work with others to provide clinical care to acute and chronic haemodialysis patients at the on-site St George's dialysis unit and the North Wandsworth satellite unit. They will also participate in the outpatient transplantation clinic. The appointee should be registered with the UK General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Register or be within 3 months of award of a CCT in Renal Medicine at the time of taking up the post. Applications by those within six months of their CCT will be considered.
